All you need to know about Faculty of Management, University of Lodz

University of Lodz is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious educational Institutes of Poland and I am glad that I had put it as my top preference for my Erasmus Exchange Semester.

The best thing a student can hear during the introductory session of any course is that: “You are not going to have an exam for this”. And well yes! That happened with most of the courses that I am supposed to take here. This applies not only to courses designed for Erasmus students but also to the regular courses of the department. I am taking 6 courses here out of which 4 are regular and I won’t say that there is much difference in their difficulty level or duration. Following are some other big plus points of the Faculty:

  • The professors are like experts in their areas and are quite proficient in English.
  • The classes are fun because we are doing tutorials, class activities, presentations, etc.
  • Even though we are undergraduate students, we are always encouraged to conduct researches, read scholarly articles and sometimes even write academic essays.
  • Instead of just reading books, we learn about the real life practical applications and strategies of the top businesses around the globe.
  • The classes are not very crowded (maximum around 30 students in a class), thus ensuring an effective interaction between the teacher and students.
  • Most of the final presentations and projects are supposed to be presented in the form of groups instead of doing it individually; therefore, we have an amazing opportunity of refining our teamwork and leadership skills.
  • The professors generally share their slides via email after each lecture, so during class you can focus more on understanding the concepts instead of struggling with writing all points.

Talking about the building, it’s pretty cool as you can also see in the picture.

It’s located on the Matejki Street and is just 5-minute walk from the tram/bus stop. For students living in Dorm 14, it’s a blessing perhaps as it is just across the street from them. There is big supermarket, the main library and a park nearby. They have a nice cafeteria in the basement where they have a variety of food served at reasonable prices. Also, there is a library where you can easily find the books recommended by your professors and even borrow them for up to 2 months. There are machines for coffee and snacks at almost every floor.
