What is it like to live in Udine? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It's a quite small city but very friendly and cosy. There's everything you might need very colse by, and in one hour by car you can get to the sea or to the mountains.

What is the student lifestyle like in Udine?

It's not bad, there's a good student community.

How much does it cost to live in Udine?

You can get a room for 200 € a month heat and water included, and you can make it to live with another 100 € a month if you're not a big spender.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Udine? Is there any advice you can give?

I think it's pretty easy, just look carefully all the offers on internet or on the school's board.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

We're in Italy, food is amazing. Local dishes frico, polenta, musetto con brovada and baccalà are a must, and there's all the national italian stuff that is wonderful too.

What places would you recommend visiting in Udine?

The historical center is small but very beatiful, then nearby there are historical cities like Cividale, Aquileia, Venzone and many others that are worth a visit.

Is it good to eat out in Udine? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Of course it is, if you want to try tipical local food go to "La Ghiacciaia" or "Al Vecchio Stallo". Just outside of the center you can a fancy dinner for a fair price at "Gnagne Sese".

Is the nightlife good in Udine? Where is good to go?

It's not Barcelona but you can have lot of fun. There are quite a few places in the center of the city (Retrogusto, Madrid, Giù al Nord, Tetris) where you can have some drinks and meet people.
The disappointing thing is that in the city center almost every place closes at 11 pm during the week and at 1 am in the weekend, the only places that are open "as long as they can" are the Black Stuff and Tetris, pretty cool places by the way.
There are a couple of discos but not very close to the center, you have to take a 20 min bus or move with a car.
If you're interested in live music there are places like Caffè Caucigh, Gnagne Sese, Liberty and Tetris that are pretty cool.

What advice would you give future students heading to Udine?

Summer can get really hot and winter really cold, so bring a lot of different clothes. It can be annoyngly rainy all year, so get prepared.
Local people can look quite closed sometimes, give them a chance and you won't be disappointed.
Have fun and enjoy wine, if you don't already you will by the end of your staying.
