Experience in University College Dublin, Ireland by Anna
Generally, what is University College Dublin like?
A big, open university with all sorts of personalities attending.
What are the facilities like?
I study in Newman, the oldest building on campus, so in comparison to the other buildings, the facilities are very poor - very few plug sockets, dirty couches, not many chairs or tables to sit at and talk with friends. The other buildings, however, have great faculties - modern design, plenty of computers and plug sockets, clean study spaces etc. The library and gym are also great.
What are the tutors like?
Most of them are passionate about what they teach and always willing to help.
Are the lessons easy in University College Dublin?
It varies. Sometimes the lessons may be easy but students are graded very harshly.
Does the University organise activities? If so, what are they like?
The Student Union are always organising activities for freshers, such as freshers week and the UCD Ball (which is a concert at the end of the year). Also societies organise events throughout the year like debates, dramas, guest visits, nights out etc.
Do you think there is a good quality of teaching?
I think the teaching is good, but doesn't always correlate with the examination.
