Why did you choose to go to Turku, Finland?

It was the only city in Finland offered by my city. And I wanted to go to Finland, to discover the Scandinavian culture and people.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I stayed 8 months in Turku as a whole. I had 370€/month by my region.

What is the student lifestyle like in Turku?

It's the top! There is an organization called ESN (Erasmus Student Network), who organized a lot of parties, cultural events, and trips to the surrounding countries and to Lapland.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Turku to other students?

Of course!

What is the food like?

When you come from France, and when your mom is the best cook in the world.... well, you miss you home made food a lot. But I guess that if you like potatoes and.... potatoes... you'll survive!

How did you find your accommodation?

I was in a student village. I had amazing neighbours, the general atmosphere was awesome, the rooms were very nice. It was just perfect.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

Around 300€/month if you have a student room. More if you're looking for private rooms.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I had "survival Finnish lessons" organized by the university. But the language is so difficult... unless you speak Estonian already... this is almost the only related language. So even after 2 months of courses, I couldn't say much...

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Turku from your city?

Plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Turku?

There are so many... The student village, Onnela, Monkey, Marilyn, Klubi....

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Turku?

Hesburger?

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Aboa Vetus Museum, and Moomin World in Naantali.
