What is it like to live in Torino? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I really loved living in Torino. It is a wonderful city for students and there are plenty of things to do. Universities are nice, although sometimes the professors don't speak very well English.

It's a funny city, every day of the week there will be a party and several events during the year.

There are a lot of museums to visit too. I was never bored there except during the summer, then it is really hot and it looks like a ghost town.

What is the student lifestyle like in Torino?

Italian University system was really different for me. Exams are only at the end of the semester, some of them are oral exams, other written exams and sometimes both. Evaluation normally is not that hard if you have the material from class, you need to have a good memory and talk/write a lot.

There are also a lot of international students, you will always meet people from everywhere in the world, there are a lot of Erasmus parties during the week and they are normally free for international students. If you go to a club, and they giive you a small card for drinks and stuff, DON'T LOSE IT, otherwise you will have to pay around 50 euros if you want to get out of the club.

How much does it cost to live in Torino?

It depends on your lifestyle, you can find rooms between 275€ and 400€ I think it also depends, of course, from the area and if you have a single or double room.

The price of the food I guess is normal. Every morning during the week and the complete day on Saturdays, there is the Porta Palazzo market where you can find cheaper things there.

To party, a drink should be around 7 euros, and a beer around 4.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Torino? Is there any advice you can give?

You have to speak some Italian, otherwise ask help to someone. In the universities there are normally boards with a lot of announces of apartments or rooms.

There are also agencies, but I would recommend not use them, because then you will have to pay one or two months rent to them, just for finding accomodation.

Also the universities have some database with free appartments and they offer a limit number of places in residences like "Borsellino" (awesome for Politecnico students, and there is a canteen there) and "Sponda Verde" (which is a little bit far).

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Italian food is just awesome.

They have a habit called "Aperitivo". Every night, you just pay for a drink and then there is also a buffet for eating. Normally, the price is around 9 or 10 euros.

What places would you recommend visiting in Torino?

Monte dei Capuccini (the view is wonderful from there), Superga, la Mole, Museo del Cinema, Museo Egizio, Museo dell'Automobile, Palazzo Reale, Piazza Castello, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza Carlo Alberto, Parco del Valentino. Everything is beautiful.

Is it good to eat out in Torino? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

The aperitivos are everywhere, in Piazza Vittorio, in San Salvario. And of course you also have to go to a pizza or pasta restaurant. Everywhere you go, will be normally good.

By the way, you normally need to pay something called "coperto" which is around like 2 euros.

Is the nightlife good in Torino? Where is good to go?

I really liked it, specially for International Students. Normally parties are in Lapsus, Life Club. I love a place called La Rotonda, and when summer is about to start they open a place called Cacao, which is really beautiful.
