What is it like to live in Turin? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Turin is a very pleasant city with great culture, all the people I have met are very friendly and willing to help in any way. There is also a vast amount of different nationalitys as the city is very popular with students. At night the city is lively but not to noisey and I did not encounter or witness any trouble. Transportation is easy to get to as the buses are always running every 10 minutes so if you miss one, its not to long for the next bus, a pleasent walk to the next bus stop is the best way to pass time.

What is the student lifestyle like in Turin?

The student lifestyle is awesome. There is always something to do or an event that is walking distance or a bus journey away. All students seem happy to be where they are and thee are pleny of librays to study. The conversation exchange is also a great way to meet new people and I would advise anybody wiling to learn a new language to sign up.

How much does it cost to live in Turin?

The living expenses are low compared to England and other countrys in Europe. You can find supermarkets based all over the city and a basic meal (pizza) at a nice restaurant can cost 7-12 euro with a drink. There are also deals at popular places if you are with a group of friends.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Turin? Is there any advice you can give?

It can be during the peak period, but if you plan ahead there will always be somewhere to find in the centre at an ideal price. I am currently looking at 250-350 euro per month. Its also common to share a flat with students and they will help you and settle in.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

I have not had one bad meal in Turin, you can grab a quick bite to eat at a cafe, like a big slice of pizza for around 2-3 euros. A coffee which is served as an espresso is average 1 euro. With me been english, I ask for a cappucino which is also around 1 euro.

What places would you recommend visiting in Turin?

Via Po is one of the main squares in Turin and is normally busy on a night with students, from there you can see a church over the bridge on a hill which is nicely lit up. Also there are many museums and historical buildings to view and find.

Is it good to eat out in Turin? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Mamma mia is one of the popular pizza restaurants near Lungo Po and Via Po. The XO bar is also a nice trendy bar which attracts many students when it is about football.

Is the nightlife good in Turin? Where is good to go?

There are many nightclubs based around the city which are the best found out depending of what music you like.

What advice would you give future students heading to Turin?

I found it best by just going exploring and getting buses around the city. If you get to know the landmarks you'll soon know your way around Turin. For a day exploring you should not need anymore than 20-30 euros.
