Why did you choose to go to Torino, Italy?

I needed to get a part-time job to finance my year, and Torino was the biggest city on my options. In addition, it was well connected in terms of airport and trains and I thought it could be useful to visit the rest of the country.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I did not get the grant as I applied too late (don't leave these things).

What is the student lifestyle like in Torino?

Amazing and cheap ! Bars, societies, clubs, many conferences at university !

Would you recommend the city and the University of Torino to other students?

Yes, I would definitely. Turin still seems quite small and has yet so much to offer.

What is the food like?

Try aperitivo and you'll know how good and varied it is !

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Torino?

Italy mainly offers rooms to share, it is a proper nightmare to find a single room at a decent price.

How much does it cost to live in Torino?

Except for the rent, food is quite cheap, you can go to the markets, prices differ in the bars but the servings are much better than in France or Europe.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?

There were useful language courses for beginners but the best tip is to live with Italians to improve your skills.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Torino from your city?

I could get the coach but the train from Paris is quite cheap if you book early.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Torino?

The Murazzi have sadly closed, so I would recommend the Cacao in the summer (open air club), pre-drinks in the Parco del Valentino, l'Imbarchino or Il Fluido.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Torino?

Corso Vittorio Emanuele and il Quadrilatero offer plenty of venues to taste "aperitivo".

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Superga, Il Museo Egizio...

Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Torino?

Make sure you have heating for the not so lovely winter months.
