I went to Geirangerfjord last week. It is said to be the most beautiful fjord of Norway and is classed by the UNESCO. It really is a place to see!

To go there, the easiest way is to rent a car (it is possible to have cheap car with NTNUI card). But be aware that even if it is only 350 km from Trondheim, it will easily take you 7 hours to go there, even more.

There are two roads that lead to Geiranger: one through the land and one along the coast. If you take the one along the coast, prepare some cash because you'll have to take 3 ferries (price between 150 and 250 NOK per car). Both are worth seeing it, because you will travel through beautiful landscapes with any of it.

In Geiranger, we rented a cabin (price 600nok/night for a 6 pers cabin). It is the easiest and cheapest. Our cabins were at Fossen Camping, and they were really good. What you have to know is that in Geiranger food is quite expensive, so bring as much as you can with you, it will avoid you to buy 35 NOK bread for example.

There, we went for a walk in the mountains (we made the one that goes behind a water fall, it really is a nice one, but the road is steep). We also rented a small motor boat (300 NOK/hour for 4 people boat I think) to see the fjord by ourselves. It is really nice but it is not enough to see the whole fjord, it is why we also took the sightseeing boat (150 NOK) to see the whole fjord. It is a bit expensive but it is worth it and you also get some explanations, what can be nice!

For the total, it cost us 1200 NOK/person (we were with 10). But it really was a nice trip!

Good experience. I\'ve been there twice and it is worthy, and as you said, renting a car is the best way to get there.
