What is it like to live in Trondheim? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Trondheim is a student city. It has 180. 000 inhabitants and 40. 000 are students. You are never bored being a student in Trondheim. There is always something happening. I can strongly recommend it! The city have a city center with shopping streets and streets with bars and restaurants. 10min walk from city center is the campus of Gløshaugen, the main University.

What is the student lifestyle like in Trondheim?

Fun! The student lifestyle consist of 25% studying and 75% activity, party, sports, fun.

The sports group NTNUI offers plenty of sports you can join. And Studenter samfundet, the big red round house down street from the campus, is the beating heart of the student life in Trondheim. They have events every day.

How much does it cost to live in Trondheim?

Ca. 3500-5000NOK per month, not very cheap.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Trondheim? Is there any advice you can give?

The student residence offers accommodation to all foreign students. Or else, on the private market, it is pretty simple to get an accommodation.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is simple. No special Norwegian food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Trondheim?

Bymarka, Nidarosdomen, Bakklandet, Festningen, Øya, Munkholmen, all the cabins (koiene) of NTNUI, Samfundet.

Is it good to eat out in Trondheim? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is expensive, but there are good places, like Frati, To Rom og Kjøkken.

Is the nightlife good in Trondheim? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is good both in the city center and on Samfundet.

What advice would you give future students heading to Trondheim?

Try to get accommodation at Moholt student residence. It is a lot happening there. And join NTNUI to do some sports, very social!
