Consuegra - the promise of coming back after 45 years

My journey to Donkihote's Giant Windmills

After visiting half of Europe, the popular place of interests became boring to me, instead, I decided to look for unique and new places, Consuegra is one of them.

• Consuegra - even Spanish people do not know

Anyone who loves literature cannot ignore the story of knight Donkihote, or at least the image of him fighting with the famous windmills. It is great to see the huge windmills of Mancha in Consuegra.

"Spain is certainly not famous for windmills, but in Consuegra there are 12 huge windmills 800 years old."

To save time, I booked Samar bus from Madrid to Consuegra to see the windmills, which would go to Toledo. That morning, I ran in a hurry. Actually I had lied in, I had to run, caught a metro line and rush to Madrid Sud to get the bus to Consuegra, luckily the bus was there.

• Bus delayed and Mr. Unbelievable

I arrived at the terminal at 8 a.m but the bus was not there, delayed to be specific. : v If the bus were on time, I would be late so I got luck that day, but a petite Japanese man was very angry about this, he kept repeating

"Unbelievable, How can it be like that? Unbelievable, this country."

He also said other things, but  “Unbelievable” word was continuously repeated

I got the bus and sat next to that Japanese man, the bus that day seemed to carry only two of us as international tourists, there were 30 to 40 seats, There were about ten guests, most of them are local people.

"Unbelievable, this country, Unbelievable" the Japanese emphasized the last sentence.

And he turned to me and said:

"If you visit Japan, you will see Japan is totally different."

The last word that the Japanese said before falling asleep is still unbelievable, and the journey of the Knight of the Donkihote would be  unexpectedly unbelievable.

(P.s: when I went to the suburbs of Marid I found a large area with loud music, it is a tour of the group Linkin Park, performing in Madrid as an activity in the international music week concert in Madrid, probably then Chester Bennington died later )

• Donkihote knight " made in Japan" and 45 year promise of coming back

After a light sleep, the conversation between two Vietnamese-Japanese went on. The Japanese are quite friendly, he said the Chinese or Korean often did not talk to him, they are not friendly, actually this is true because Chinese or Korean often go in groups, without contact with other people.

Oh by the way, the Japanese man called himself Kudo. Mr. Kudo is a ballet teacher who is actually the director of the Kudo Ballet School, a famous ballet school in Japan, who has led the dance team to perform at many world competitions in Australia, in the United States, in Switzerland.

This time he attended as a guest at an international concert in Lisboa Portugal, so he had the opportunity to visit Spain from West and then go to Portugal.

• The dream of the Japanese knight Donkihote begins.

Kudo told me that coming to Consuegra to see the windmill was the dream of his life, the desire that he always dreamed of it. He said that 45 years ago, when he was 22, he was a graduate, with the money saved during student’s time, he made his destiny trip to Europe and Spain.

Especially the city of Toledo capital Mancha country as in the story of Donkihote.

Yet like many other travelers, he spent much of his time visiting Toledo, not knowing that going 60 km to the south of Toledo.

There would be old windmills of hundreds years old, as in the story of Sec Vantec. 

We separated, Kudo was like Donkihote, and Sancho Panza was like me. From far away I saw the vast olive fields, on the top of the long mountains were giants. They are the giant windmills of Mancha.

Far away on the high mountains are huge windmills, a total of 12 windmills all, you can imagine the giants of the ancient Donkihote  once fought with them.

After taking some pictures of the town of Consuegra!! Kudo and I hurried up to the top of the mountain, the huge windmills overwhelmed my eyes.

• Windmills in Consuegra- Giants

Kudo was very happy, he cried and he sang. He sang along with an old man selling souvenirs at one of the windmills, he raised his hands up, jumping up the flute feet happily.

• Mr. Kudo's Dream has come true

He said: My dream, Oh dream came true, so beautiful, so happy.

"My mancha, My dream. My dream has come true !!!"

He sang that high tone, his hands opened wide as if to say to the world, like to embrace “My Manchan.”

Then he told me to leave him alone,

“I'm sorry, but this is my dream, this is his Mancha.”

He wanted to enjoy it alone. So I left him lonely with his Mancha. 

• I have found a Donkihote but he is from Japan not Spain

I went to take pictures, far away still hear the chorus of Kudo. Honestly, I was happy for both Kudo and me, and Kudo made his dream of Manchan, I found myself a beautiful manchan with a noble knight of Japan, 1 a real knight in flesh and blood, a knight with dreams come back. The dream come true 45 years ago.

Wandering in Consuegra for a few hours we descended on the bus to Toledo.In the bus two people of different mood, Kudo happy to fulfill his dream return, I also found myself a story about the knight Donkihote made in modern Japan. .

• Now I am 21 year olds- Will I come back to this place 45 years later?

He was a little older than 67 years old. I was very touched, partly because this year I am 21 years old, by the age of 45 would I come back to visit Consuegra?

At that time, I would be sitting on a local bus, maybe next to a young man, young age 21, as well as 21, as I am today. I told  Kudo, he laughed, then he said: 

" No no, do not like me . You just ten years."

Mr. Kudo also thanked me, he told me to help him make Mancha dream of his life, Mancha too beautiful, Mancha so wonderful.

• Consuegra Windmills have been always beautiful from the moment we dreamed of visiting it. It is more beautiful in our minds. 

I told him:

""I just think that Consuegra is just a normal place compared to many famous places in the world, however, it is so beautiful because it is always in your mind. It was always beautiful from the very first time that you dreamed of coming back to visit these windmills.
