Post-Erasmus depression mode: ON

And you wake up one day and you think everything was a dream… An amazing dream but still, just a dream… The city, the friends, the trips, the parties. Everything happened while you slept… So you get up to face reality as every day and instead, you come across a suitcase half-full, stuff all over the place and a scrapbook full of photos. Everything has happened! Everything true, even though it seemed like a dream…

And then it comes to you. “How do I face reality? ”

I wrote the above text my first night back home, after crying my heart out over the life I had left behind. I had spent the entire night thinking about Barcelona… The friends I had left behind, the life I had lived there and the fact that going for my Erasmus studies there was the best decision I ever took in my life. No second thoughts! No regrets!

It's been three months now that I returned and every day since then I’ve been making an effort to adjust to the old life and its rhythms. But how is that possible? Just as Alice (the one we all know Lewis Carroll took to Wonderland) said:

“I can’t go back to yesterday because I was a different person then…”

This blog is my attempt to write down every single detail of my life in Barcelona that comes to mind and to describe that amazing city and my experience there. The way I saw it, heard it, smelled it, touched it and the way things made me feel. Because when you really want to experience something, you have to do it with all your senses…!

Most important of all, it's my way of moving on...

So let's begin.

Your blog entry tugged at my heartstrings when I read it. I can see that you had an amazing time in Barcelona and I can totally relate to it, especially to the post-Erasmus bit. All the best :)
