Prom. Preparation. Day 2

The introduction

Now it was the second day of preparing for the prom! I mean, the second going out for shopping for the prom. Well, not exactly shopping for dresses and heels, but to see what type of dresses there may have been and was it worth buying them or not. Besides, my brother wanted to buy some clothes and stuff for himself and that’s why we had gone shopping in the first place. But me and my sister would look around and see the dresses they had in those shops, while he would shop for himself with my father. And I must say that my father doesn’t like shopping. I mean, who likes it? Especially when you are not going for yourself, but for someone else, who isn’t sure what he wants to buy and stuff like that, you know. So we were there looking for some stuff for ourselves and just walking around the halls.

Tbilisi Mall

Well, we went to Tbilisi Mall, that is in Dighomi, at the end of the city. That is a huge shopping and entertainment place and many people go there, but to be honest, there’s not much that you can buy. I mean, I don’t really like much stuff there, and if I go there, probably for buying goods that is in Carrefour or for movies or just to hang out with my friends. But for that, there’s another huge shopping and entertainment center East Point just 20 minutes walk from my apartment and there are much more things for entertainment than in Tbilisi Mall and if I want to go there for just an entertainment, I could just go to East Point and not somewhere all the way to another end of the city, in Tbilisi Mall. But we were there and we were wandering around and looking for some dresses, but there weren’t any. I mean, there were some formal evening dresses, but none of them were for prom or something like that. They were just for ladies and, you know, those stuff. So we didn’t really know what to do and we just went on wandering.

Then we decided to go to Carrefour, because that’s a huge grocery store with many things and they even have clothes in it and, well, my sister wanted to buy some things and I wanted to see their muffin festival, as they had announced, that they would have a Muffin Festival for three or four days in all their branches and, since I was going to go to one of the branches that day, and my plans changed, as they dragged me into that shopping time in Tbilisi Mall, at least what I could do was to go to that Carrefour and have some muffins. I had not tasted their muffins until then and I didn’t know whether they would be good or not, but I had to try, they looked so delicious and stuff like that. And there were different kinds of them. Some of them were with cocoa, some of them with walnuts and some of them with those colourful jellies and raisins and stuff like that. And my sister wanted to taste them too, because I talked about them the day before and how I wanted to taste them and how I was going to go to Carrefour the other day just so that I could see that Muffin Festival and taste some of their muffins.

So me and my sister were looking for Carrefour and we didn’t really know where it was or where we would find it and there were no signs telling us what was where and it’s really difficult to get through your way when you don’t know the way and there are so many shops around you and so many people walking around. So we just went through the shops, hoping we would see Carrefour somewhere sooner or later. And then there it was, looking at us from nearby. And we went in. It was pretty huge, I must say, and there were so many things that we got pretty confused and didn’t really know where to go. I was looking for those muffin mountains as I had seen them on those pictures, which were on Facebook on Carrefour’s page, but I couldn’t see anything like that nearby and I had to go around and look for those muffins. I knew that they would be somewhere nearby bakery, but I didn’t know where the bakery was and I had no idea where to go. Well, me and my sister went here and there and then decided to go downstairs first, because there were some things that my sister wanted to buy and while we were there, it was better if we bought those stuff first and then the muffins on the second floor. And, well, we knew that we were going to be there in Tbilisi Mall for a long time, because my brother couldn’t really decide what to buy for himself and he needed all the time in the world to decide which trousers or shirt or whatever to buy, so we had all the time for ourselves, too. I mean, we had so much time that it was really exhausting and we just wanted to go home.

Prom. Preparation. Day 2

So we went on walking around in the hallways of Carrefour. There were plenty of things to look at and some of them were really good and I wanted to buy them, but I knew then I had to drag them with me all the way until we got to the car and I didn’t know when that would be, so I just didn’t buy them. We looked around and saw all the things that were there, I guess, I mean, what else we had to do there? And we took some toothbrushes, that was what we came for on that floor, if you want to know the truth, and then we just went upstairs to find some muffins. There were food and other stuff mostly on the second floor, and it was hard to get buy all those dishes and cookies and chocolates and stuff and not want to eat them. But, well, we weren’t that hungry, too, and if we bought them, we wouldn’t be able to eat muffins or other things that we came there for. And by eating muffins, I’m not saying that I can eat many muffins. One or two is even enough for me and I can’t eat more, I guess. Well, it depends on the muffins and how hungry I am, of course, but still... So, after wandering in all of the Carrefour, finally we saw the bakery and then there were muffins and they were just like on those pictures and I was really glad about that.

Well, you should have seen the bakery. There were all those stuff that people like very much and despite it is called “fast food”, everyone just likes them. There were all those sandwiches and Lobianis and Khachapuris and potato pies and meat pies and stuff like that. There were also pizza slices that looked just very delicious and everything looked very delicious, in short, if you want to know the truth. And then there was this place, where they had Lobiani on sticks and they looked so amazing that I nearly bought them, but if I had bought them, I wouldn’t have eaten them all, or I wouldn’t have eaten those muffins at all, so I preferred muffins to them, of course. My sister looked at those fast food and said that she wanted to eat some sandwich, and I was surprised that she wanted to eat it, because she was all “I want to be skinny for my prom and I should jog in the mornings and I should not gain weight” and stuff like that. But she was really determined to eat that sandwich with cheese and ham and tomatoes and cucumbers and salad, you know how it is in sandwiches, right? So, we took half of the sandwich, as it was pretty large as a whole and then we went to the muffins and other stuff. Surprisingly, there were some donuts on sale, too, well, I haven’t seen those small donuts there in Carrefour, they only had those large ones, which were pretty large and I could just eat one of them, I guess. So, those small donuts were very cute and my sister decided to buy them. And it was like if you bought 5 of them, they would give you plus one, so that it was more than enough for us and only for 3 Laris, so we took them and while there were different donuts there, we chose different ones, so that we could taste each one of them. And what about the muffins, you may ask. Well, I took one of them, as my sister didn’t want another, and if something, she would take a bite size from mine just to taste it, as she said she didn’t really like muffins, because they were dry and stuff like that. Well, she was right. Of all of the muffins that I’ve tasted (and I must say that I haven’t tasted many muffins in general), only muffins in Dunkin Donutswere not dry and were very delicious.

Prom. Preparation. Day 2

So after all that shopping, we came to the pay desk and paid for all of that and we just wanted to sit somewhere so that we could eat our stuff, which we wanted to eat very much. Well, that’s the thing there, we couldn’t find something for proper eating. There were only some benches for people who went shopping and wanted to sit and relax and rest a little, until they continued their shopping. I think, it would be better if they make some places for people with food just like us and want to eat. Then I wonder, why they sell those food there in Carrefour, if they can’t have some kind of tables and chairs for people to just sit there and eat that food. Maybe I want to eat at that moment and I don’t want to take that food all the way to home. If I’m at home, I can eat food prepared by me, right? So, I don’t really need to buy some food at the grocery store. Well, that was a problem and me and my sister had to sit on those benches and eat our sandwich and donuts and muffins there with all those people going around us. But it was not that bad, of course, we are used to that. I mean, we have to eat in that kind of situations because there is no time for going somewhere and eating there when you have school or university and you just have this 15 minutes or so to eat your lunch and then you have lectures and stuff like that again.

Prom. Preparation. Day 2

To be honest, my muffin was really good. It was not dry, it was not very large, it was made from cocoa and some sort of flakes were on it, and I really liked it. It was soft to eat and not very nourishing. Just a light snack, I would say. I even had it tasted by my sister and she said it was good, despite her negative thoughts about muffins in general. And then there was time for donuts. I really wanted to have a taste of all of them, and I would have tasted all of them a little if we were at home and we had a knife, so that I could cut small pieces from them and taste them, but we weren’t at home and we didn’t have a knife and so I couldn’t do that. All I could do is to eat those ones, that I chose for me. The one with some raspberry jelly inside was really good. I really liked it, though I don’t really like cakes or things like that with jellies. The other ones just had chocolate or something like that spread on top of them and they didn’t have anything inside. Well, I just remembered, that I just ate two of the donuts, one with that jelly inside it and the other one had chocolate on it, and, well, I can’t say, that all the other ones didn’t have anything inside the dough. But my guess is that they didn’t. I must say, that I like those donuts, which have cream in it, such as Boston Cream Donuts, you know, from Dunkin Donuts and I usually buy those, but I don’t really like donuts, in general, I usually like Ponchitos, those are like donuts, but have something like Boston Cream in them and they are fully filled with that cream and they taste just amazing.

Well, while my brother was still deciding which clothes to buy and which shoes he liked, we just sat there and didn’t know what to do. We were kind of tired and didn’t want to be there anymore. Well, my sister tried to suggest some things to my brother so that he would understand which one to buy, but in vain.

Prom. Preparation. Day 2

Then we went to the shops again. There were some dresses, but none of them were for my sister and they said that they didn’t have sizes for my sister, so that was a bust. Well then, we went to another shops and we looked at other things, such as tops and blouses and trousers and stuff like that. My sister liked some of the things, but realized, that they weren’t exactly what she wanted, so we just went in stores and went out and there was nothing for us really.

After some donuts, my father and my sister decided that they could drink some juice. You know, there is this Georgian restaurant chain called “Laghidzis Tsklebi” which means “Laghidze waters” and it used to be favourite for Georgian people. Those waters were in some big tubes or something like that and there were different ones in each of them, there were tarragon, chocolate and cream, cherry and orange and others. I think, the best one is chocolate and cream, or at least for me. My father ordered that one and my sister had tarragon one for herself.

Well, after some time there we were very exhausted and just wanted to go home, so at last my brother came out and we could go home, though he didn’t really had much of a shopping done and wanted to go to other shops and they decided to go to East Point. And me and my sister would stay at home. That was really a good idea.

So, after all that “shopping” and stuff, we went home, me and my sister, and had some rest, because there was another shopping waiting for us the other day. That time, my sister would really buy a dress, because there was no time for wasting.
