Family Diners

The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine.

In this article I want to tell you about these places in Tbilisi, called "Family Diners' in English, I guess, well, they are called like family cuisine or something like that in Georgian. So, they are in many places everywhere around Tbilisi and they are reallly good places if you want to eat somewhere in a good environment and if you want to sit somewhere and eat normally, you know. So that, you can find them easily around the city and if you know where exactly they are located, you can decide where you want to go. You know, it's always a problem to eat healthy and every time you want to eat something healthy, you have to look for some places, where it's possible to eat some good stuff without much fat and things like thta, you know, so that you have to look for places and then remember them and know where you can find them, because its not always that easy to find some place good and the one, where there's some tasty good and, at the same time, it's comfortable and reasonable eating there. To tell you the truth, it's really expensive to eat and it's even more expensive to eat healthy food, than that fast food, if you ask me, so that it's really important to know a place, where the prices are just normal or something like that and you can easily go there and sit there comfortably and have a good lunch or something. So, you know, people just go throughout the city the whole day and there are so many bakeries and things like that and they get hungry, of course, and when they want to eat something, they just see theese different bakeries with all those fast food and things like that and they can not resist the feeling of wanting those things, because they have some great smell and that smell goes all around the bakery and they just go there and buy something, that they like there or something like that, you know. Well, you can not really do anything else at that time, because theere are some really great things in there, i mean, in those bakeries, you know. And they have lobianis and khachapuris and potato pies and pizza slices and stuff like that and , well, the most popular thing that people buy is Khachapuri, of course and you will see so many people with khachapuri in their hands and eating it and everything, you know.  And khachapuri is sold in much amounts in all around Georgia, if you want to know the truth. Well, while khachapuri is loved by so many people in Georgia, it's still bought because of its reasonability and because it's easy to eat and it's like everywhere, I mean, it's sold in every corner of the street , you know. However, it's still not a healthy one, I mean, it's fast food, so that i don't think, that you can call it healthy food, of course.

Anyways, there came this family diners and they have become more and more common and popular and more and more people go there in those places to eat something. You know, i'ts like you are eating at home when you eat in those places, because the dishes are really good and the atmosphere is just great and it's just like at your home in the kitchen or whatever, you know. Well, these places are my favourite, if you want to know the truth, when it comes to the  ones, that are reallly good ones to hang out and eat, because they have much variety of dishes and those dishes are those ones , which are  used to be prepared by our mothers  and grandmothers, you know, and it's really great to eat in those places, when you an not go home to eat, I mean, there are often these situations, that are really tough and you just can not get home the whole day and you just have to eat somewhere on the road, you know.

So, there are these family diners and they are pretty much everywhere in the city, as I've already mentioned, and they are pretty good ones to eat in. They have become very popular in these two years or something like that, I guess, so that they are some new places, if you ask me. It's been ust recently, that we knew, that there were two or three of those ones and now you can find them in many places, you know.

300 Aragveli metro station

Well, I remember this one, that opened nearby 300 Aragveli metro station and me and my friends used o go there and eat some great salads and things like that in a pretty reasonable prices and we were really happy that we found some place great with all those delicious dishes. You know, you can find some homemade dishes there, which you love and which have been prepared at your home all those years and you feel like at home when you eat there in those family diners.

Liberty Square

The other one is nearby Liberty Square and though the place is not large, it's still that family diner and it's still good there and probably it's the most efficient place, because many people just happen to be there and they can visit that place often.

Delisi metro station

Another family diner is nearby Delisi metro station and it's  quite a good place, because it's a place, where many people move around and there are often crowded there, if you want to know the truth, however, there are places to sit and there are some good dishes if you want to know the truth. And, they have some good cakes, too, so that you can buy them and eat them there, and, well, there are some bakeries around and you can buy some cakes there and take them in that family diner and eat them there with other dishes bought in that diner, of course. Well, at least, i did it like that and i bought a cake outside in another supermarket and then went in there and took some salad and they didn't say anything like I couldn't eat my cake there or something like that, you know. However, this time, when I visited it, they had some pretty good cakes there, so that it was not necessary to buy a cake outside and bring it there this time.

Tsereteli ave

One of the largest Family Diners I have seen is on Tsereteli ave, from the 2 bus stops from the metro station, I guess, and this is a very large diner with so many different dishes, that you can not really choose which one to eat. The prices are pretty reasonable, of course, and what’s the most important is that they are really delicious, I mean, as  I’ve already mentioned above, everything in these family diners is as delicious, as homemade and they taste like home, you know. It’s like your mother has prepared them or your grandmother and I love eating there because of that, because if you want to have something delicious and the kind of things that you used to have in your childhood or your mother or grandmothers or aunts prepare for you from time to time, you should definitely go into those family diners and eat dishes there. You know, there are those supermarkets, where you can eat really delicious dishes, too, however, some of them don’t have a place for you to sit there and eat that dish, which you just bought in that supermarket, or they don’t have those dishes which you had at home every day or something like that. Those supermarkets mostly offer people some foreign dishes, I mean, dishes, which are prepared from chicken fillets and salmon and some other things, as well as some Georgian dishes, of course, however, people mostly buy dishes there, which are not their usual ones, I mean, you can have some potato puree prepared  at home, too, so that you won’t really go to supermarket and take that dish, when there are all those different delicious dishes there and you just go there to eat something that you don’t usually eat every day, I guess, well, at least, that’s how I feel about those dishes there, if you want to know the truth. For example, I love going to Goodwill supermarket just to buy their salmon dishes, because they prepare salmon just perfectly and I can just go there from a distant place to buy that salmon and just come back home or wherever I was, you know. And then there’s this Smart supermarket and they prepare dishes from chicken fillets, which are really delicious and there’s this vast variety of chicken dishes there and they have chicken fillets prepared as in Sicily and Mexican chicken fillets and Texas chicken fillets and chicken wings and chicken wraps and things like that and I always buy some of them when I’m in Smart supermarket, however, it’s pretty sad, that Smart supermarket is not somewhere nearby my apartment or places, where I usually have to spend the day, you know, so that I have to go there especially if I want to eat some of their dishes.

Kidobani

There’s also a family diner nearby Kidobani, which is nearby Station Square metro stationand I usually get there from that metro station, if you want to know the truth. Once, when me and my friend went there for some shopping in Kidobani, we felt hungry and wanted to eat something and then she showed me this place in that Kidobani yard and we went there. There they had many dishes with meat and many salads and cheese and juice and cakes and pastry and everything and we just wanted to have all of those things, I guess. However, I remember, that I ate this chicken mtsvadi and she ate some salad and we just paid really cheap in those things and we were kind of surprised, you know. And, besides, those dishes were pretty delicious and that was the first time that I ever visited this family diner place, I guess.

Vazha-pshavela metro station

Another family diners is located nearby Vazha-pshavela metro station and, well, a little bit further. It’s just in front of the Vazha-pshavela statue and it’s a great place there, if you ask me and  I often go there, because I have things to do in that area and when I feel hungry, I just visit this place. It’s a really comfortable one and there are many tables and chairs and you can sit comfortably there and enjoy your meal. Though, there are usually many people there and sometimes it’s not  that simple to find an empty table. They have some pretty delicious dishes and they have different salads and cakes and pastry and meat stuff and it’s really difficult to choose just some of them, because all of those dishes are just very delicious. I had their meatballs with stock there this other day and I really liked it and 1 meatball cost 2.50 laris and I thought, that it was sold in grams or something like that and when this girl started adding much stock to that one meatball, I stopped her and told her that I didn’t want more of that stock, however, then I found out, that it was not in grams, but the amount of meatballs and I shouldn’t have stopped her, because then I would have plenty of stock, too, and, besides, that stock was really delicious one. And I also had this chicken fillet and I cut it into pieces and put them into that stock with that meatball and they were just great together, if you want to know the truth. However, once when I was there, I looked at those cakes and they had this Tiramisu cake, which looked pretty good and I decided to have it and it was not a good idea, I must say, because it didn’t really taste like Tiramisu and it had this strange cream filling, which made me feel like a balloon or whatever and I just liked this biscuit that it had, you know. And I couldn’t just leave some pieces of it like that, because I don’t like leaving food and not eating them, and, well, it was not a good idea to eat that whole piece. And, I must say, that the piece of that Tiramisu was pretty large and it was more than enough for me.

Anyways, there are lots of family diners throughout the city and you will find them in many places, however, you should know, where they are, because otherwise you may look for them for a while and not find any of them anywhere nearby and then it means, that you just wasted your time in nothing, you know. So that, now you know where to find some great family diners and if you are somewhere nearby them and want to have some great meal, you can visit any of them and enjoy their dishes there.
