Great time of my life!!!

Why did you decide to go to Tarragona, Spain?

I didn't know anything about Spain before Erasmus. For this reason I wanted to learn more about its culture here.

In a smaller city like Tarragona you can learn the language much better. In Tarragona I was forced to learn and speak Spanish. The local residence are very happy to help you with it.

How long was the scholarship valid? How much money did you receive for support?

My stay was 7 months long. I received a grant of around 150€ for six months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Tarragona?

The atmosphere is wonderful and you are surrounded by lovely Spaniards and Catalonians.

Would you recommend the city and University of Tarragona to other students?

Absolutely! The city is wonderful and located directly by the sea. For only 12€ you can get to and back from Barcelona. Even the RyanAir is only 12km away, which makes it very easy to fly either to Andalusia or to Morocco.

What is the national food like?

The food is excellent, except for a few meat meals, which I personally didn't like the taste of.

How did you find your accommodation?

I found my accommodation through the Unihomepage.

What are the prices of accommodations like? And the prices in general?

The rent was relatively high for me personally. It was around 260€ plus additional costs circa 30€. Normally you have to pay on average 200€ all inclusive. For food and drink you should count another 250€.

Is the language easy to understand? Does the university offer language courses?

I took a EILC-course for Catalonian to be able to get around. Afterwards I underwent ELE2 training for my Spanish knowledge. Mostly although I learned on my own talking with the local residents. A relationship can work miracles in this regard too:-).

What is the most economical way to get from Tarragona to your city?

With airplane (RyanAir).

Where is the best place in your opinion to go partying in Tarragona?

Its very good in harbour! But the Pacha and Flashback are not very far away and there are always special busses going. There are mostly Uniparties. The best Fiestas are always in the summer and very recommendable: Santa Magi, Santa tecla and many more!

And to eat? Could you recommend a few good restaurants in Tarragona?

Golioitalia

Are there interesting cultural attractions?

The old city centre and the Roman ruins.

Is there something else you would like to advise other students coming to Tarragona in the future?

Check Facebook for Erasmus groups in Tarragona beforehand.
