Why did you choose to go to Tallinn, Estonia?

The price firstly, it's cheaper compared to France, my native country and secondly I've always been attracted by north countries so, it is a good combination.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

4 months, I received 1700€ in total.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Tallinn to other students?

I was studying at TTK, Tallin University Of Applied Sciences. Yes, of course, it was an amazing experience for me and I hope people will go there and go back home as happy and full of souvenirs as I was.

What is the food like?

I just bought food and cooked for myself/ourselves with friends, we didn't find things about Estonian food. Honestly, their food is not that good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Tallinn?

No, Facebook is the easiest way to find a flat.

This one : "Erasmus in Tallinn/accommodation".

How much does it cost to live in Tallinn?

I was paying 315€/month, in Pikk street (Old town), everything includes. Then it depends on your activities! Going to visit Estonia by bus is cheap (3€ to go somewhere max usually), but if you go to the club every night then it will be expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I was talking in english, had estonian introduction on the welcome week but it's really hard.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Tallinn from your city?

Plane, clearly.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Tallinn?

I wasn't that much in club, but go on FB to see everything.

  • Club Hollywood, Club Münt, Studio are the most visited places by me and my friends.
  • Red Emperor is a very cool bar
  • Beer Garden and Beer House if you want really good draft beers.
  • Depeche Mode bar is the place I prefer.
  • There's also a lot of "underground" party if you're tired of music in normal clubs, but you have to search for it, ask young Estonians, they know!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Tallinn?

Kompressor, for 5€ you have giant pancakes, you'll be happy and full.

For real restaurants, just go to trip advisor, they don't lie: Vegan restaurant (even if you're not) is great, Pegasus,...

Some fast-food are cool, Pitas, Wok to Walk...

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

You can visit all Tallinn and churches and stuff.

If you want to go around Estonia, I would recommend :

  • Keila Juga/Rummu Prison: Best places for me.
  • Jagala Juga Happsalu.
  • Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Tallinn in the future?

In the end, don't focus that much on the city, Erasmus is more about the people, they're making your experience great. I come from the south of France, there's a lot of sun there, so I was sad sometimes to not see the sun for 10 days in a row, but with your friends, everything is great
