What is it like to live in Stockholm? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It´s a big city with a lot of green areas, and water, between the neighborhoods. The city is beautiful and charming. I´m raised here and love the city.

What is the student lifestyle like in Stockholm?

Maybe not the best, from what I´ve heard, and experienced, it has quite a bad reputation. But at the end of the day, it´s up to you. I don´t think it can be compared with the student life in Lund or Uppsala, but on the other hand Stockholm is big and has a lot to offer!

How much does it cost to live in Stockholm?

I´m used to the prices, but if I compare it´s obvious that Stockholm can be quite expensive, especially accommodation. Probably you can't count with finding a nice flat in the city center. But Stockholm has many beautiful suburbs as well, if you´re lucky.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Stockholm? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes! Here you might find something, unfortunately mostly in Swedish.

What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?

As many big cities it has a lot to offer! But cheap and good fast food could be better, it´s not comparable with Berlin for example.

What places would you recommend visiting in Stockholm?

All the parts in the main city. Stockholm consists of islands with a lot of water in between, this makes the city very special. I would also recommend green areas and beautiful suburbs outside the city center. Skogskyrkogården, Hagaparken, Drottningholm and Hellasgården. Stockholm has many high standard Museums. Vasamuseet is amazing, as well as Skansen. I also like the small art-museums around Djurgården.

Is it good to eat out in Stockholm? Can you tell us your favorite spots?

Yes, as in most bigger cities. just strove the streets and you´ll find what you look for.

Is the nightlife good in Stockholm? Where is good to go?

I guess it´s like in many other big cities. But, I sometimes hear international friends complain though. Bars closes early and the alcohol is not so cheap. The streets have a tendency to be quite empty.

What advice would you give future students heading to Stockholm?

Give the university a chance, it has more to offer than what might be the first impression. It took some time before I realized it myself. The University is surrounded by beautiful nature and historical areas and you can bike into the city center within 30 minutes.
