Erasmus Experience in Stockholm, Sweden by Tom
Why did you choose to go to Stockholm, Sweden?
I always wanted to go there. I got a chance to go on an internship in the centre of Stockholm so I grabbed it.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I lived in Stockholm for 4 months, receiving 350 euro per month. It was not enough to cover cost but it helped.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Stockholm to other students?
The city is incredible, something to do every day, lots of pubs have live music, there are lots of museums and cultural places to go to.
What is the food like?
It is a mix of typical Swedish food like sweets but also a lot of foreign foods, Mexican, Thai, Turkish...
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Stockholm?
It is a problem in Sweden in general that there is more demand than supply for housing. I found mine after a week of being in Stockholm, constantly checking the websites likeBlocket.
How much does it cost to live in Stockholm?
The prices are pretty high, but there are shops like Lidl where you can get cheaper food. Drinks in general are extremely pricey.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Stockholm from your city?
I took a flight into Stockholm, but train rides are also a good option.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Stockholm?
There are a lot of places to go, my favourite was Marie Laveau at Maria Torget. During the spring/summer there is also Trädgarden which is a good spot to go.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Stockholm in the future?
I have had an amazing time there, I can only recommend it!
