Stockholm: the city that will change your life forever

Stockholm was the destination I chose for my Erasmus experience. There were many reasons why I picked this city and not any other one in Europe. I was studying Swedish at university (so at least I could practice the language in that country, which at that time were basically "Hej, jag heter potatis") and I also loved (and still love) winter and cold weather in general.

Little did I know that this experience would mean changing my life forever and making me make decisions (oops, I'm sorry guys, I know it sounds horrible! ) that I would have never even thought about.

I went alone in the woods and paddled in a beautiful lake near Stockholm University, almost giving my mom a heart attack, I picked up mushrooms, luckily without getting poisoned by them (oh my God, those Kantareller were absolutely delicious! ). I experienced nature for the first time in my life. Coming from Rome, it is quite hard to find a place as green and as pure as it is in Sweden.

But this is not all. Stockholm made me meet with the love of my life. This incredible guy, with an amazing story to tell and who had indeed recently moved back to Stockholm (not to mention that he was super cute and could already speak like 6 languages). We casually met at a pub at University and we instantly fell in love. Now, a year after my Erasmus started, we live together, in a beautiful apartment in Stockholm, 5 minutes walk from the woods. I'm everyday more in love than the day before. Tell me if this is not perfect.

To be honest, the fairy tale was not always easy. Stockholm made me face a difficult time of my life and helped me send away negative influences that were ruining my life. And for this I will be always thankful to this Erasmus experience, but most of all, to the beautiful and amazing city of Stockholm.
