Stavanger

Day 2: August 1

Arrived in Stavanger after the 8. 5 hours train and bus journey, we tried to figure out how to get to our hostel. Arrived at the hostel, Stavanger Vanderhjem, we already started to meet new people. From Swiss, to French and even Brazilian people. Already on the second day of our journey. I love it here!

Day 3: August 2

Today we hiked through Mariero, climbed some mountains, walked through the forest, walked through the city and had an amazing view by the water in Vaulen. The route was approximately 10km; perfectly doable. Afterwards we decided to pay a visit to the Sverd i Fjell monument. It is a monument dedicated to the Vikings that consists of 3 swords placed on the ground. They are huge. Unreal!

Day 4: August 3

Today was a very rainy day in Stavanger. We had a look in the city centre, visited Gamle Stavanger, Skagen and the harbor. The first two are neighborhoods in Stavanger City; definitely worth to pay a visit to! Afterwards, we went to an American style diner cafe. It was an amazing experience, drinking a milkshake and eating American styled food. In the evening I decided that I wanted to go to a beach in the neighborhood, so on Google Maps I typed "beach", and the beach near the hostel, Godalen Badeplass, appeared. What a spectacular and peaceful place. I could sit here for hours listening and watching the water.

Day 5: August 4

What an amazing day. We traveled to Dale (Sandness) to climb Lifjellet. It is a 10km hike from the red kind of hikes; that is, quite tough, since red is the color that comes before black! We expected a normal hike but we definitely did not expect this. We hiked through forest, over beaches, mountains, waterfalls, and even over steep stone plates. At some points we thought about turning back since the trail kept getting steeper and the edge was one wrong step away but, luckily, we did not return. What a breathtaking view at the summit at 282m.! It took us 6 hours in total. We were exhausted at the end but a new memory was created and it was worth it!

Day 6: August 5

Traveling day again. This time from Stavanger to Bergen. We got up at 5:00 am, immensely early! We took the boat instead of the train. What an amazing experience seing the fjords from the water point of view! The boat was called Fjord Line.
