Sri Lanka

There are no words to describe that place. You just have to feel it, taste it, see it, smell it and explore it. The only thing I can say is that do not stay in just one place. Take a taxi, tuk tuk, scooter, bus or whatever but go around and see that beautiful country. Ask to the locals what would be a good place to go next and what would be the best way to go there. If you use normal road you can see a lot, but because of the traffic it can take many hours. If the next target is far away you should say to driver that you can use highway (it costs like 300 LKR, 1.5 EUR). Whatever your choice is, remember take a stop and eat Sri Lanka curry and rice. Oh my god is good. My road trip was from Colombo, then to Mirissa, Weligama, Unawatuna, Galle, Hikkaduwa, Ella, Kandy, Dambulla and finally to Colombo.

I am not very good at writing so I decided to show you some pictures. After every picture there is a piece of information that you should know. It's just my opinion but you should take a look.

Remember that always the main beach is not the only option. The most expensive hotel is not the best one. This one was super cheap. It was heaven of earth. Just next to beach. Place: near Weligama beach.

So much love in one hotel in Hikkaduwa. Those dogs were there all the time and I never felt being so safe than there. Hotel Blue Note.

Drink Sri Lanka coffee pot. I don't know nothing better. Ok, I'm from Finland, we love coffee.

Go to Nine Arch Bridge. Wait until train is coming. I was sure that it was going to Harry Potter's school.

Go to Hikkaduwa. You don't have to take any snorkelling tours. Best way to see turtles is just going to beach. Turtles are coming to say hi!

Go to Ella. Please just go there. It's so nice place. We did not take the accommodation from the centre. And it was a better choice ever. There is a nice restaurant in Ella city but you can just walk to centre. Ella Wooden Lodge. Take it.

Lion Rock. I don't recommend to go there. Go next to it. It's cheaper, easier and you can see much more there. 360° viewpoint. Pidurangala Rock.

Remember that you can't find everything from the Internet. Just go and walk around.

Sri Lanka knows how to melt hearts! Check if there are some happenings near you.

If you want to feel butterflies in your stomach you should go and find a beach wing. So fun. This was on Unawatuna.

Take the train from Ella to Kandy. No words needed. Don't take a first class place if you want to see everything and open the windows. If you want to get a place, go by train one stop before Ella. There is no place before Ella.

Go to Galle! It's clean. It's old. Its classy. It's beautiful. And there is a very good spot to eat ice cream. Yummy!

Hangout with locals. They know how to chill.

Find the hidden Jungle Beach. Watch out! there is some monkeys and scorpions.

Always check the beach and take good pictures.

Don't watch movies. Enjoy the sunset. Like every evening.

Drink coconuts and ask from locals if they know some good spots. Then, twinkle your eyes and ask if you can borrow that place.

Did you know that this Ella to Kandy is the most beautiful train trip on earth?

lovely-spicy-sri-lanka-roadtrip-c6d69ab5

Eat your greens.

lovely-spicy-sri-lanka-roadtrip-2e15ff2d

Always take the breakfast in the room if possible. It's always good and healthy.

lovely-spicy-sri-lanka-roadtrip-43a6e74c

Drink more coffee. I love it!

lovely-spicy-sri-lanka-roadtrip-57c9c855

Coconuts are delicious. You should buy this and drink. It is like +30 °C.

Swim and find different hotels. It's cheap and fun.

Just go with the flow and taste every spice that you can find. Enjoy it. And buy tea and spices to bring them home. Be kind and give them to your mum, so maybe she would make some spicy food for you. Love your life.
