Going from Zagreb to Split

Going from Zagreb to Split

So the next day we left Zagreb and got on a bus to travel to split. I got the tickets from Flixbus bus application for like 16 Euros per person, that’s a pretty affordable fare. Like I said the bus station in Zagreb was easily accessible and so we left quite late and ran for quite a bit so we wouldn’t miss the bus. If got some sandwiches and drinks from a café in the bus station and they were awesome. I don’t remember the name of the place as usual but they were cheap and tasty. The bus ride was about 5 hours and a half, nearly 6 hours. we got off at 9 am and we reached split about 2:30 pm.

I think we travelled to split at the highest peak season because when I was trying to book our Airbnb facility, I couldn’t find any listings and I mean this was worse than the time that we tried to get an Airbnb in Prague right before the Easter Break. This one was downright insane, I tried booking from 10 days before and the only thing I found was a room in a shared apartment in Mravince. Now before going there, I didn’t know how far Mravince was from split but I would soon learn that the hard way.

The room we got in Mravince was great. It was clean, spacious; the house even had a great view. There was a bus that would take us to split and from split to Mravince. Now the trip was about 20 mins, the road was beautiful and you wouldn’t get bored. The bus tickets also weren’t expensive; it was like 11 Kunas which is less than 2 Euros. The problem was that once in split, we still had to walk 15 minutes to get to the promenade and the old town of split which was basically the city center. That still was doable; I mean it's a beautiful city why wouldn’t we walk. The problem arose when the last bus that would take us to Mravince left at 22:30, I mean!! We were on holidays we weren’t about to leave the city at 10 pm because there wasn’t a bus anymore. That was really disappointing, luckily Uber works in Croatia. I say luckily because we don’t have the option here in Budapest, last year Uber became illegal here in Budapest but that’s a story for another day.

We had to take Uber at nights to go there which was still problematic but we could go home later at least. We paid around 70 Kunas for each time we took an Uber, that’s like 10 Euros each time.

Now in the next few entries I will be talking about the things there is to do in split, my own experiences, the beaches there and the surrounding islands.
