Day trip to Ronda&Setenil
What could wake me up at 6.30 am on Sunday? Of course, trip, and it does not matter how far and for how long. Having booked the trip with a friendly company ‘We love Spain’, we went to Ronda and Setenil on 12th of March 2017. Before the trip, we googled photos and thus, we were expecting to see unfamiliar, very beautiful landscapes, moreover, we were looking forward to new horizons.
So, the time – 7.45 am, meeting point – Plaza de Torros, a lot of international students, ‘We love Spain’ team, and our way – Huelva -> Sevilla -> Ronda -> Setenil. We came to Ronda approximately at 11 am. There, we had a guided walking tour. Also, one of the coordinators from ‘We love Spain’ team gave us maps with a detailed route so we could walk on our own, taking a dozen of cool photos.
It is very difficult to talk about Ronda, even photos and videos cannot convey what we saw with our own eyes. Firstly, it is height, it is not just height, it is an open and free height (if I can say so). By this, I mean that there were no walls, no high fences, nothing that would give me a sense of security.
But what a fascinated view! Green mountains, trees, as if growing in a special order (perhaps it is so), also, the trees are the kind you want to fall into (I mean they look like soft trampolines, like white fluffy clouds, in which you want to fall into too). Maybe I am the only one who thinks so, but anyway, they were really cute. Old castles, powerful fortresses, unusual rocks. I wondered how and when it was all built and how it still stands powerful and extremely beautiful.
The best of this walking tour is that you can calmly walk enjoying the views, make stops for having a picnic, take wonderful pictures, in one word, I would call it - freedom. There, on the height, you think about what you would never have thought ‘downstairs’ - in your city, in your apartment, at the university, in the shop or somewhere else familiar to you.
We have been not only on the height but we also went down (not like climbers, of course, but still). We have passed many steps and have seen a lot of beautiful details of both: nature and architecture. Then, we went to a local cafe for a picca and ice-cream. After that, we went to Setenil.
Setenil De Las Bodegas – also mountains and the height (but not as high as in Ronda). From my point of view, this place was not so much beautiful. It was just different, unfamiliar. On the mountains, there are a lot of houses where Spanish people live. Under the rocks (or even in the rocks) there are many cafes and shops. Honestly, the streets were dirty because somewhere in Spain people litter where they want, even in cafes, and it is considered to be normal.
There is one plus, for me, the most delicious coffee in Spain I have tried in one of the cafes in Setenil, it is called ´Catunambu, El café de Andalucía´ – probably, the typical coffee of province of Andalusia.
The way back to Huelva was funny, my friend and I were listening to music and singing songs for almost three hours. All in all, this day trip was amazing. Thanks to ‘We love Spain’ team, my friends, and lovely weather!
