I was born and raised in Sofia so I have a lot of comments. But shortly - for young people the city is great. There are a lot of history - roman and other ancient excavations, lot of art and entertainment and party life. The public transport is not the best, but there are a lot of taxis and they are cheap.

There are lot of real estate agencies that can help you, the offers are many so it would not be a problem ti find an accommodation.

Food comes in great variety - from typical Bulgarian cuisine, to Oriental and Sushi places. I prefer all kinds of salads. There are many open markets so you can easily buy fresh vegetables and fruits.

What places would you recommend visiting in Sofia?

Vitosha street for strolling, Tzar Osvoboditel Boulevard for high end restaurants, Student's town for night life.

Yes, head for Student's town or look for discos in the center, there are many of them.

What advice would you give future students heading to Sofia?

You can have headaches if you are confronted with the local bureaucracy. If you ride on the public transport go for the metro - it is really great, not so much the buses or trams but they also will do. Recently there has been issues with immigrants so avoid the Lavov Most area (Lion's bridge).
