What is it like to live in Sofia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is not as busy as many other European cities. The people are friendly, however most of the older population (over 45) struggles with English. The laws are lenient, especially for foreigners.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sofia?

There are a lot of activities that you can do. There are countless parks, zoos, and places to go for a walk. However, the most famous activity is clubbing. There are many discos and bars where the party is at max.

How much does it cost to live in Sofia?

Life in Sofia is really cheap, considering other European cities. For example, including your rent, taxes, and food money, the total monthly cost would be 1000€ at the worst scenario.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Sofia? Is there any advice you can give?

No, because there are many newly built apartment blocks and more and more are being build

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is our strongest point. Except, all the worlds famous brands, there are many small restaurants with typical Bulgarian food, which is absolutely delicious.

What places would you recommend visiting in Sofia?

In Bulgaria the nature is wild and breathtaking, so every vacation or weekend you can go somewhere around. The Balkan mountain, Rila, and Pirin are full of breathtaking views and historical places, important for Bulgarian History.

Is it good to eat out in Sofia? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, the restaurants around Sofia compete non-stop for the best kitchen. Places like Happy, Raffi bar and gelato, and Cactus are all chain restaurants, where you get guaranteed perfect food.

Is the nightlife good in Sofia? Where is good to go?

The night live here is at the top. The most popular clubs play Bulgarian pop-folk music, which you either love or hate. However, clubs like Gotham or Exe and many other bars play popular rap/trap music or depending on the event. One thing is sure, there definitely is nightlife in Sofia.

What advice would you give future students heading to Sofia?

Don’t get into arguments with the locals.
