What is it like to live in Sofia? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Sofia is a multicultural city. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't visit a city full of cultural, architectural and historical diversity. It is a city that meets the cultural heritage of the East and the modern views of the West.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Sofia? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not diffucult to find accommodation in Sofia. Prices depend on the are. Good areas are: Mladost, Iztok, Geo Milev, Oborishte, Lozenec, Gotze Delchev, Vitosha, Ivan Vazov, Strelbishte, Beli Brezi. Most of them are a bit pricey.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The traditional bulgarian food is delicious. A popular dish is banitsa, a kind of cheese pastry.

What places would you recommend visiting in Sofia?

There are many good places for eating out in Sofia: Fabrika Daga, Fabrika Daga 2 (these twoo are kind of hipster), Happy (more of an american type of restaurant), Mr. Pizza..

Nightlife in Sofia is quite good. Places you should visit:

What advice would you give future students heading to Sofia?

Sofia is a wonderful city with many sightseeings.
When finding a place to stay be sure to look for places that are not in the ends of the city. Here are some dangerous areas to avoid:
Obelya, Lyulin, Nadezhda, Zapaden park (West park), Fakulteta, Krasna polyana, Krasno selo, Hadji Dimitar, Levski, Suhata reka. Also don't rent a place near Maria Luiza Str. as the crime rate is high eventhoug it is considered cloce to the city-center - don't go between the city-center and the Central Railway station.
