Evs in Sofia

I have been doing my Evs in Sofia for 10 months total. My project is almost finishing so I would like to share my experience while I have free time. 

Sofia is not so exciting city as general saying. It is pretty small so as a tourist you can even see everywhere in a day. But it doesn't mean that there is no good sides. It is quite cheap especially compare west European countries, there is many expats, volunteers and foreign students so you won't have problem with finding different people everyday, If you are doing couchsurfing there is surfers looking for host or a friend in the city so you can help them also average English speaking level is pretty high in Bulgarian people. 

If you are a person who like to travel and interested in different cultures from Sofia you can visit almost all the Balkan countries and Turkey. So if you work or study here and want to travel once a month so you could have enough places to visit for a year around Sofia. Also I tried to do hitchiking several times, my friends also do, it works pretty fast.

* One bad thing about Sofia is winter is pretty cold*

As I said Sofia is cheap generally Bulgaria is cheaper than Sofia. Personally even I go out time to time and attend an expensive gym 240 euro is enough without rent, bills and public transportation. 

If you are a person who likes alcohol you wouldn't have any problem in the city. There is many different bars and night clubs. One funny thing in Sofia; drinking coffee is more expensive than driking beer.

Metro is pretty simple and covering the city quite good. There is also tram and bus(night buses too). Taxi is pretty cheap. After party going to my place is 2-3 euro(my place is 30 mins far by walk).
