Why did you choose to go to Sofia, Bulgaria?
Initially a professor at the NBU
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I stayed for 1 term (5 1/2 month), Rent depends on location within the city (200-400 Euro) I guess. Food is incredibly cheap, as is public transport (I recommend choosing electronic month card = 10 Euros for students)
What is the student lifestyle like in Sofia?
Many partys and some really nice trips (dont hesitate to leave the city and explore the rest of BG)
Would you recommend the city and the University of Sofia to other students?
The city is full of opportunities, did not visit the University of Sofia
What is the food like?
Cheap, reastaurants even cheaper, difficult for vegans
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Sofia?
no, used facebook, but be careful
How much does it cost to live in Sofia?
As always it depends on your choices. I used between 300-500 Euros for accomodation food, gym and occasional trips.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Quite easy I guess and language courses are available at some unis.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Sofia from your city?
By bus and train.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Sofia?
Club terminal 1
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Sofia?
Sun and Moon cafe (3 places)
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Serdika, Museums, St. Nevski etc etc
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Sofia in the future?
bring lots of patience :)
