Why did you choose to go to Sevilla, Spain?

I got friends who went to Sevilla, they loved the city and told me to do my Erasmus there.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I spent only 5 months in Sevilla and I had a help from my country (about 1200€).

What is the student lifestyle like in Sevilla?

Students are really cool because they don't have a lot of courses but they work a lot and the courses are really hard (I was in the University Pablo de Olavide).

Would you recommend the city and the University of Sevilla to other students?

I will totally recommend the city! It's amazing, there are a lot of things to do. I wasn't at the University of Sevilla but at Pablo de Olavide and I don't really recommend it because it's really hard.

What is the food like?

Delicious! Be careful there are a lot of restaurants for tourists, which means the food is not good (even the drinks are bad). But if you take a book of the different restaurants or ask someone who've been to Sevilla, you'll be really surprised. The food is delicious and the prices are really low.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Sevilla?

I was looking for an apartment with 3 other friends and we found a place in only one week. It's really easy to find something espacially if you're alone and looking for a flat share.

How much does it cost to live in Sevilla?

Not much, we paid 800€ (212 per person) for a 150 m² flat with 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a washing machine etc... And the apartment was in a really good place.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

No, it was really hard to speak Spanish and I was using English most of the time... shame on me. Yes there are languages courses (not only Spanish by the way).

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Sevilla from your city?

We chose the car (I live in the South of France) because we're 3 and the plane was really expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Sevilla?

At the Utopia club (for winter) and the Terraza Libano (for the summer)! But there are a lot of (really) good clubs in the city!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Sevilla?

Los Coloniales (really cheap); Vineria San Telmo is the best restaurant in Sevilla in my opinion. The tapas are amazing and it's not only Spanish food; L'oca Giuliva is also excellent but it's an Italian restaurant.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

La plaza de España, amazing place to visit whenever you want (free), the Royal Alcazar, it's where Game of Thrones was filming The cathedral is beautiful and all the gardens/parks.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Sevilla in the future?

Don't stay with people from your country, go out and meet people to practice either English or Spanish. Try to visit other cities (Malaga, Valencia, Madrid), Portugal is really close as well and it's really beautiful. Join Erasmus communities (Eramus Club Seville, ESN) to know the events and do not hesitate to participate even if you're scared of being alone or ashamed of not speaking the language: it doesn't matter, go! You'll have the best experience in your life! Enjoy!

Since Sevilla featured prominently in the iconic series Game of Thrones, why not check out the 9 other countries in which filming for the show took place.
