Spain, Day Seven

Our last day in Spain was in Seville. This is a very beautiful city. Marta said that it reminded her of Amsterdam. Sadly, I have never been there so I can not say.

What impressed me is that every city in Spain that we have visited was different, but completely different. The architecture was different, people, streets and the general vibe of the cities were completely different. If you have seen one Spanish city you can not say that you have seen them all. In fact, you have no idea what you are missing.

In Seville, we stayed in a hostel called Trotamundos which we booked online. So far, I have not been in many hostels, but this one was by far the worst. Yes, it was very cheap and yes in a good location as advertised. However, it was very old. And I don't mean that in the retro way, but in the horror movie kind of way. It was not very well stocked and it was shockingly dirty. In fact, Marta found some old menstrual blood on her linens. Disgusting!

I now, know, for the future travels that I should always pay my accommodation and transport in advance. In this case, I know that I even if I spend all of my money or God forbid have it stolen I will have a place to stay and means to return home without thinking „What to do next?“ which was the case in Seville. By this time we have spent basically all of our money. The hostel did not have a credit card reader and we were forced to go look for a ATM. This doesn't seem like a big problem, but what if you don't really have a lot of money on your credit card and you are in a foreign country? This means that ATM is practically going to eat all of your money and you won't even have enough to pay for the dirty hostel. And therefore you will sleep on the street.

Bella suddenly said „I trust the Germans“ and she was right. For some reason the Deutsche Bank's ATM didn't take a high provision. After this problem was solved we were able to enjoy Seville.

We visited the royal palace Alcazar. The entrance was only two euros. Although it looks like Alhambra with much much cheaper entrance, I did not feel like I wasted my money in Alhambra when I can see it all in Alcazar. I felt privileged that I was able to experience this kind of beauty once more.

I can't say that I am an outdoors kind of type. I enjoy the noise of the city, the look of interesting new architecture, the endless supply of souvenirs and knickknacks, the smell of coffee in cafes, drinking beer in bars, restaurants that are open all night, but even I can see that there is something special in beautiful gardens and parks like the one we saw in Alcazar.

We also visited Metropol Parasol which is an impressive new architecture design made of wood. If it looked that impressive to me, I can't imagine how Marta experienced it. She studies architecture and is quite passionate about it.
