Why did you choose to go to Sassari, Italy?

My colleague did a traineeship here at the lab and he recommended the program.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

490€. I did erasmus semester in Pisa with 390€ which wasn't enough cuz accomodation there is more expensive. In Sassari accomodation is cheaper and the scholarship is nore than enough. There will be some left for travelling around the island too :) I am paying 180€ for a single double-bed room. Wonderful. Aint in the very center but like 3 minutes from my italian course building. Cannot complain.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sassari?

Well. I just came before the corona thingy so haven't experienced the lifestyle fully. Nevertheless, what I have get a glimpse left a very nice impression of it. Very family-like interactions between the students and esn staff. Heard that Pisa has the best Esn events but Sassari aint very much behind tho.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Sassari to other students?

Well cannot speak for the university but my traineeship is wonderful. People that I work with are very helpful (Luminescence lab)

What is the food like?

Food is well delicious. I mean it's Italy but the rural part of the country so it's even more better.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Sassari?

Well yeah it took me a while. Airbnb or bed&breakfasts are very expensive like 40€ per night so try to find a place before coming here. Or at least in the first days of stay. Subito.it is a great platform for it.

How much does it cost to live in Sassari?

Well 180€ for accomodation and with food and other activities maybe round 350€ (generous lifestyle)

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Hmm cannot tell without bias. I knew italian before coming here. Some of it is very useful to know because not many people know english but honestly italian basics are rather simple so no worries. Just learn some basic expressions and you are good to go. Ask kindly a person you are speaking to to speak slowly and no problemo (cuz locals tend to speak super fast when ypu say "yeah I know some italian")

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Sassari from your city?

Huh? Aeroplane to alghero or traghetto from livorno. Then from olbia to sassari with the train (cuz I brought my bike)

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Sassari?

Hmmm with esn I guess

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Sassari?

Dunno

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Havent explored yet

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Sassari in the future?

Learn some useful italian phrases. Check subito.it for accomodation make an arrangement with the landlord. Visit the flat decide take it or lose it asap.
