Why did you choose to go to Sassari, Italy?

I knew people from previous years.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

Three months. The faculty payed around 900 €.

What is the student lifestyle like in Sassari?

It's a city of students, full of Erasmus students, you just have to search and go the events of the ESN.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Sassari to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

It's good! A lot of Pasta, pasta, pasta, pizza, pasta. The best of the town is that you can find a pizzeria at any time or place, or just go the the 24hours machine shop.

How did you find your accommodation?

By searching in the faculty and in "mensa". It's better to ask some help to someone because they only speak italian. So, during the first days, if you are not prepared it's a little bit difficult to talk on the phone with italians!

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

You can find a room between 150 and 200€, plus the water and light.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

For latin speakers it's really easy to learn if you hang around with italians. I didn't went to any course and I think I understand and talk the necessary to have a good communication.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Sassari from your city?

From Portugal, you have to take a low cost flight to Madrid and then, with Raynair to Alghero.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Sassari?

Agabakela, Pancho Villa, Triciclo... But the most beautiful and cool it's just to hang around in Piazza Italia with a couple beers.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Sassari?

Mensa! Asterix pizzeria, KM pizzeria.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Alghero, Stintino, Porto Torres, Bosa...

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Sassari in the future?

Don't wait for good times, create good times!
