Why did you choose to go to Santiago de Compostela, Spain?
Actually I didn't have a big choice as it was the only place in Spain with which my Faculty colaborated,
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
The scholarship took one semester. It was 250 euro per month ( if i remember correctly)
What is the student lifestyle like in Santiago de Compostela?
The student lifestyle in Santigo is perfect, The city is charming and small so you can quickly find your own favourite place.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Santiago de Compostela to other students?
Yes, definitely !
What is the food like?
I wouldn't say it can be easy for vegetarians, Santiago is the capital of seafood. If one like the seafood is in heaven. But in the students' canteen there is a wide variety of dishes for a cheap price.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Santiago de Compostela?
No, i found it through some friends who have been there before,
How much does it cost to live in Santiago de Compostela?
The cost depends mainly on accommodation. I was pretty lucky to find a cheap flat.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
The language in Santiago is peculiar as all of the people speak gallego. However, i had an opportunity to attend the course of castellano with other erasmus people :)
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Santiago de Compostela from your city?
By plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Santiago de Compostela?
On Mondays there used to be guitar concerts in Momo, on Wednesdays local music in casa das crechas, to dance: tarasca and one nearby ( i forgot the name, sorry).
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Santiago de Compostela?
I had my favourite coffee shop where we could eat "el flor",
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
For sure the roof of the cathedral - impressive views. And the region by car.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Santiago de Compostela in the future?
Try to discover Santiago on your own and don't use buses, The city is small you can walk there everywhere and discover the magic of the old town. While searching for a flat remember to check if you have radiators :)
