Well, first of all i should say that Santiago is a preety good choice relating to taking an exchange program, people is vey kind and there's a lot of places to go out a party, besides the liquors are realitevely cheap in comparison with other european cities. I would recommend you to go with a partner because this can make easier the adaptation, nonetheless i have traveled alone and i met some great people. The airport is well connected to the city by bus, but remember that is a small city, so after 10 pm the bus station (who is small by the way) will be closed. When arriving to the city i recommend you to got to the old town (cidade vella) in order to find accomodation, check with the international office to find out about rooms for rent with other erasmus. Well that's all, knowing spanish can be very useful because the city is small and the people is very open to help you finding anything you want.
Finally i must say..enjoy, don't forget to go to "casa das crechas", "fonte sequelo", retablo and if you got still forces (@ 7 am and after) go to liberty bar. see yaa
