Why did you decide to go to Santander, Spain?
-To improve my knowledge of the language and the culture
How long was the scholarship for? How much did you receive as a grant?
-Three-month scholarship with a grant of €360 per month.
What is the student life like in Santander?
-enjoyable and diverse
-lots of Erasmus students from Europe and all over the world
-good parties, lots of trips and activities at the university
Would you recommend the city and the university of Santander to other students?
Yes, if you don't want to go to the big cities (Madrid, Barcelona etc. ) then you would like it here.
What is the national cuisine like?
-Lots of fish, but also other specialities (e. g. there are Pinchos everywhere).
Did you have to pay to find your accommodation in Santander?
No
How much does life in Santander cost?
About €400 per month - rent included, trips and travel excluded
Is the language easy to understand? Does the university offer language courses?
There are language courses that are sometimes very expensive, but are well worth it
The language is mostly easy to understand, with a bit of practice
What is the cheapest way for me to get from Santander to your city?
The bus to Bilbao (from €6), then a flight to Dusseldorf or Frankfurt
In your opinion, where are the best places to party in Santander?
Loft Art, Kudeta, Copolla
What about eating? Can you recommend a few good restaurants in Santander?
Bodega Cigalena, La Candela, Cien Montaditos
Are there any interesting cultural sights?
Palacio Magdalena and the Peninsula Magdalena
Do you have any other advice for future students going to Santander?
- definitely take part in Erasmus Introduction Week
- visit Oviedo, Bilbao, Salamanca, Burgos etc. (I would recommend travelling with travel buses like ALSA)
