Erasmus Land Trip to San Marino and Rimini
This was my first trip with the organization Erasmus Land. They usually organize trips two, three times a month and various events such as parties, movie nights, pub crawls, wine tasting… There is something for everyone. I went there with friends that I have met on the first day of my Erasmus year. Back then, we didn't know each other that well and this trip was a great start of a beautiful friendship.
The trip, like most of the Erasmus Land's trips, was very affordable, only 20 euros. The bus waited for us early in the morning and took us first to visit San Marino. This is a small city state located on a hill. It is so small that you can see it all in just a couple of hours and so we did. We saw some monuments like Basilica di San Marino which is a neoclassical church from the 19th century, a convent and church called Chiesa di San Francesco, beautiful nature and amazing views from above. The sun made the scenery even more beautiful. We went to the top of the San Marino and, of course, took countless photos. If you are not in a good form, climbing up can be a bit challenging but it is well worth the view.
For lunch we ate pizza. Since this trip was at the very beginning of my Erasmus, this was one of the first times I ate pizza in Italy. The pizza in Italy is completely different from the one we eat in my country. In Italy it is an unimaginable thing and possibly a great offense to ask for ketchup to put on pizza which is completely normal in Serbia. There were several restaurants in San Marino all offering pizza. But since this is a touristic place the prices were a bit steep.
Next in line was Rimini, only half hour away from San Marino. Here we did not visit the center, only the beach so I can not say what this town is like. The beach however was nice. But don't take my word for it, after all I was among the rare who was extremely excited to see the sea. Although most of us brought swimming suits, I was among the small group that actually went swimming. Perhaps others were embarrassed or something, after all we didn't know each other that well. Or maybe I just missed the sea too much. I didn't get to go to sea side that year because I had to finish all of my exams in order to go to Erasmus. Therefore, for me this was an amazing end of an amazing trip. The beach, the sea and the sun. Someone even brought a guitar.
