GustaV ~ Vegan Cafe in Salzburg

Sometimes, traveling as a vegan can take a bit of extra work, especially in meat-loving countries. Thanksfully, HappyCow.net makes our lives easier! While traveling through Austria, my dad searched HappyCow.net and found that Salzburg has its very own vegan cafe! After checking into our Airbnb, we went straight to the quiet streets, strolling until we found our destination: GustaV. We found it a wonderful place to sit and have a delicious and unique meal. The staff was very friendly, and we had a great time.

1. This cafe is artsy, colorful, and gives off a delicious vegan vibe. It has inside and outside dining, a signature of a great European cafe.The menus are decorated as huge playing cards, and if you order tea it comes in a creative and colorful tea pot. The seats are all mix-matched and I felt very comfortable on my stool at our little wooden table, munching away at our delicious food.
2. The food choices are very diverse, from breakfast options served until 4pm to sandwiches, soups, salads, and dessert options. The tofu scramble was absolutely amazing, and has inspired me to cook more tofu scrambles at home. The french toast may have been a breakfast food, but we ate it for dessert. The monthly specials included a quinoa and black lentil salad, as well as a jackfruit-BBQ sandwich with cabbage slaw. My whole family (who are not vegans) greatly enjoyed all the options.
3. GustaV doesn't just serve food, they also have wonderful drinks. Try one of the local beers or freshly-mixed sodas! This is a great way to really experience Austrian food and drinks.
4. The server that we met spoke perfect English, and they also had English menus, making this a great place for everyone, German-speakers and not alike.
