What is it like to live in Salerno? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Salerno is my City, where I was born and grew up too. I recommend to live there mostly in the summertime. You get to live in a beautiful city, with lot of beautiful people and at the same time you are very close to the best places in the world (Amalfi Coast, Naples, Capri, etc). The city is always in progress. It has a amazing and long walk on the sea, wonderful historical center with bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a real good pizza.

What is the student lifestyle like in Salerno?

Student lifestyle is ok, I haven't experienced this because I left home for Uni.

How much does it cost to live in Salerno?

Salerno, like all Southern Italy, isn't that expensive. I will give some examples:

1 whole pizza for 3, 50 - 6 €

1 beer for 2-3 €

1 ice-cream for 1, 50-2€

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Best dishes: frittura di pesce (fried fish), pizza.

Is the nightlife good in Salerno? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is in the historical center (Largo campo, Via Roma). Around this area you can find people drinking an talking and at the same time there are a lot of bars and cafes where you can have a sit. In the town center there isn't a very good club where you can dance, while you can find this 15-20 minutes from the center.

What advice would you give future students heading to Salerno?

Salerno University is not in Salerno. It's in Fisciano Campus, a well made campus (20 minutes by bus from Salerno). My advice is: don't take accommodation near Fisciano campus, take it in Salerno where you can enjoy the nightlife and all those things Salerno offers.
