Experience in Salerno, Italy by Vincenzo

What is it like to live in Salerno? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Salerno is a nice city, it's full of places where you can hang out with your friends. In this sense, I would recommend it over Rome, it's full of bars, pubs, ice cream parlours and clubs. Besides, the Amalfi Coast is only a few kilometres away from the city centre, which is world famous. So you can go to the beach and visit the amazing coastal landscapes.

What is the student lifestyle like in Salerno?

Student life there is nice. The facilities work well. The laboratories run well, the answering machine is efficient, the professors are serious and capable, and not too strict or crazy. The canteen is the best part of the institution, you can have great dishes from the menu of the day. There are a lot of study rooms, however there never seem to be enough.

We have a huge library, which is full of books and publications. A big downside is that the university is 16km away from the centre of Salerno and the public transport networks are not the best, as there isn't enough public transport, which might be a problem for you.

A lot of students in residence here prefer to find apartments that are closer to the university, where the shopping, clubs and night life aren't very good. According to them, if you live there, you have nothing to do with what is going on in Salerno.

How much does it cost to live in Salerno?

Life in Salerno is quite expensive and the public transport isn't the city's strong point.
