There are so many things to do in salerno. It’s the perfect city for young people, where they can have fun (nightclubs, cafes)

How much does it cost to live in Salerno?

It’s one of the cheapest city in Italy. The apartments don’t cost so much. And the daily life is very easy.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Salerno? Is there any advice you can give?

There are so many websites online where you can find accommodation. You can find some of them to share with others. Or some apartments where you can live alone. Even if you don’t find anything in the center of the city, there are some zones close to it.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

As you heard, the Italian food is one of the most amazing in the world. Mostly in the south of Italy where Salerno is located. You can find the typical food in pizzerias or typical restaurants (taverns).

But you can also find so many international restaurants, the most popular are sushi’s restaurants.

What places would you recommend visiting in Salerno?

There’s the seafront where you can admire a wonderful sunset. Then the Arechi’ s castle where you can watch the landscape of the city. The historical center with the Cathedral of San Matteo.

Is it good to eat out in Salerno? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are so many different places to eat. The most popular are sushi’s restaurant “Ingordo”. It is not so cheap, but you’ll eat the best sushi in the city, not the traditional, but very modern and original. Then next to it there’s the burgers’ restaurant, the same name. There are some traditional taverns “Cicerenella” and “Osteria nonna Maria”, the best in town. The best pizzeria is “re denari”, but in general to eat a really good pizza you should go in Naples. Then another popular restaurant is the Greek’ s one “Mythos”.

Is the nightlife good in Salerno? Where is good to go?

Young people use to go in bars where often there’ s music, while drinking cocktails or wine. But most of the young people go to Cava de’ Tirreni (10 min from Salerno), where there are so many drink bar and there are lots of young people. Then in the weekend sometimes there are parties in the disco, but it’s funnier to go in spring-summer period. In general the Erasmus organization in Salerno gives so many information about nightlife. And mostly it organizes the best parties for foreign students.

What advice would you give future students heading to Salerno?

You should live at all the experience, mostly knowing the Italian culture and the people! As possible as you can, you may visit towns around Salerno. Because every single one of them has a particular characteristic. Salerno is splendid, but after some times you could get bored. There’ s Naples just an hour far, and don’t forget the Amalfitan Coast (you would never get bored about that landscapes). People here are very friendly and open minded, so don’t be afraid to ask local people to show you places, to give you advices. As a local girl, I can say that we are proud of our local resources and we can offer to foreigners. Have just fun and enjoy our country.
