What is it like to live in Salamanca? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Salamanca is a wonderful city! Such a pretty town, the University alone is a wonder in itself.

It's small but there are so many students there that it feels bigger. I would definitely recommend it.

What is the student lifestyle like in Salamanca?

It's a big student town. Lots of Erasmus and Spanish students alike. There's some great bars that offer nights out for different nationalities as well as Erasmus themed nights.

How much does it cost to live in Salamanca?

450 euros a month, including bills and food supplies is probably about average. My rent was around 210 euros a month (bills inc. ), though it will possibly be more likely to be around the 300-350 euro, depending on which area you live.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Salamanca? Is there any advice you can give?

It probably took me a few days to find the right place. I stayed with a friend who was already there whilst I looked.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is amazing! Plus, it's relatively cheap too. It's easy to get a tapa and a drink for about 1, 50 euros. My favourite are the Albóndigas from Delicatessen & Café, so good!

What places would you recommend visiting in Salamanca?

The University is so beautiful, it's the perfect picture spot.

By the river Tormes is beautiful too, there's a running track alongside it and plenty of places for a picnic.

Plaza Mayor is cool too! Plenty of places to eat and drink, there's also plenty of fairs and activities going on there throughout the year too.

Is it good to eat out in Salamanca? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There are plenty of great places to eat in Salamanca. My favourites are Delicatessen & Café and Cafetería Baviera! Plus, Calle Van Dyck has some of the best tapas bars in town.

Is the nightlife good in Salamanca? Where is good to go?

Camelot and Cvm Lavde is popular with Erasmus students due to their nationality themed nights. La Chupitería has the best shots and Potemkim is the best for dancing.

What advice would you give future students heading to Salamanca?

Try and live with Spanish students, or at least Erasmus students from different countries! Don't fall into the trap of only talking to the Erasmus group (who will mostly speak in English!).
