Why did you choose to go to Salamanca, Spain?

I chose to go to Salamanca because of the University's excellent reputation. I had also met other students who had gone there and they highly recommended it.

What is the student lifestyle like in Salamanca?

Salamanca has the best student lifestyle anybody could wish for. There are always things to do whether you prefer nightlife, cultural activities, restaurants or pretty much anything else. The best thing is that so you are never limited to what you can do.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Salamanca to other students?

I would absolutely recommend both the city and University of Salamanca to other students. Everybody is so welcoming and willing to help you, and you will have the best time.

What is the food like?

The food is delicious. Most dishes are made on the premises of the restaurants, even down to the tapas which makes it that bit more special. On top of it all, the prices are never too high!

How much does it cost to live in Salamanca?

Salamanca not only is a place where you have an amazing time, but it is also very friendly to your pocket. There are plenty of opportunities for student discounts on cultural activities, and the nightlife is not expensive either. Going out to eat is very cheap and supermarket food is not pricey. The most expensive you should pay for rent is roughly 300 euros a month.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Salamanca is the perfect place to learn Spanish as everybody there is willing to help you learn in a way that is comfortable for you. There are intensive language courses that you can apply to at the start, but the friendly and supportive environment makes your language level thrive regardless.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Salamanca from your city?

There are links to many other countries through Madrid airport. From Madrid airport it is easy to get a coach or a train to Salamanca.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Salamanca?

Most restaurants on the Plaza Mayor are good, restaurants near the cathedral and surrounding the Plaza Mayor are also fantastic. There is one near the Cathedral that sells really tasty paella and Italian food. Off the Plaza Mayor there is a restaurant right by McDonald's which appears to be a tiny bar which is actually a beautiful restaurant with amazing food. Mandala Café is a beautiful Café to study and Don Quijote is a nice place to sit outside and eat.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The Cathedral absolutely takes your breath away. The views of the city and the cathedral itself is absolutely incredible. However, there are many other cultural sites that are absolutely amazing such as the Cielo de Salamanca and the museums. I would recommend any!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Salamanca in the future?

Make the most of it. It is a beautiful place and I couldn't recommend it enough.
