Why did you choose to go to Salamanca, Spain?

Spanish is the 3th language spoken in the world and also north of America totally lots of people speak it. Why I selected Salamanca, if you too are going to Salamanca for Erasmus you will see it obviously that Salamanca is the cheapest city of Spain and also there are lots of students, Erasmus or the others..

For the night life it is the best option, I can say. First of all drinks are cheap and in addition there are lots of people, so colourful and enjoyable.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholarship was for full one year. I don't know if all the countries are giving the same amount of money or no, but in my case I can say that this amount wasn't enough to be able to live in Spain. I received 3500 euros for 10 months. But if you say I won't go out of Spain and also of Salamanca maybe that the amount is ok. I think you shouldn't stay only in Salamanca during your all Erasmus, you should discover all the other cities of Spain and also some European countries, too. I think normally per month 650 euro it is ok.

What is the student lifestyle like in Salamanca?

Salamanca is a really safe and quiet city. Don't worry when you are going out from your house, all the time you can arrive at your house without any security problem. The city is quite small(for me), you can arrive everywhere by walking. There are many tips of students so night life is so colourful except Monday and Sunday I can say I can go out for partying.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Salamanca to other students?

I recommend the city yes, but the university of Salamanca sorry for this but the students (department of statistics) aren't very friendly. And also you should know to speak Spanish, only some people can speak English, in university neither.

What is the food like?

They only have 2 special meals, I think. One is of course paella that I hate. The other is tortilla that I loved.

But I should say that Spanish meals are generally very greasy but I love tapa (pincho). They are not for dinner, you can eat it whenever you want as it is small portions (so so small).

How did you find your accommodation?

My university (the university of Salamanca) didn't help me in this subject. I handled all of these things on my own. But don't worry there are many announcements for renting room or renting flat.

What are the accommodation prices like? What are prices like for other things in general?

For Salamanca the price of accommodation is ok, for one room it is about 200-250. Maybe you can find it cheaper too. The life in Salamanca isn't expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I strongly recommend students who want to come to Salamanca or still thinking to come up, they should learn Spanish. Classes are in Spanish, maybe you can do your exam in English, yes some teachers gave you this opportunity, too. Generally, in my university you don't have any exception compared to the others. And also if you can arrange your plan of study you can enroll of "La Escuela de Idiomas". It is not private. For one semester you only have to pay 70 euros. It is nothing. In the university too there are some courses, but they are only for people who have the level of intermediate.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Salamanca from your city?

From Turkey there is only option I think, it is by THY. Without any stop directly goes to Spain. It is expensive, but it is the best.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Salamanca?

Carmelot (after 2 at night), El Sabor, Chupitería.
