Why did you choose to go to Rovaniemi, Finland?

At first I wanted to go to study in Kajaani because I was afraid of the darkness time in winter at Rovaniemi. Then, I started to look at website at the university, and I really understand how unique was this place. Furthermore, I found of winter and winter activities, so I think that Lapland is the perfect place to study for me.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I have two scholarships for the full academic year (9 months), one from the Erasmus program and one from my hometown. I have received 2200 €, and I will receive around 300€ more at the end of my studying year.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rovaniemi?

Student life for Erasmus people is essentially taking place in Kuntotie, our student housing. Besides, we have our own parties several times per week.

In the city center, there are about four or five night clubs, and ten bars. It is a little bit far away from our student accomodation, but you can take the bike or a taxi (if the roads are too snowy).

I highly recommend this city and this university to those who want to live an amazing and no ordinary year, especially if you like winter!

What is the food like?

Finnish food isn't really good (if you like potatoes and rice it will be ok), but you can still eat reindeer, or korvapuusti (cinnamon pastries).
