Nerea's Erasmus Experience in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Why did you choose to go to Rotterdam?

Because Holland caught my attention, it's a country where the people have avoided the stereotype of 'cold Europeans'.

How long was your stay? How much money did you receive?

My stay lasted six months, with no option to extend it. Around 150 euros a month, but they released the money at the end of the stay....

What's the student atmosphere like in Rotterdam?

Good!

What's the cuisine like?

Bad, really the best idea is to eat in restaurants like 'El Bazar' (which is Arabian food).

Was it difficult finding accommodation in Rotterdam?

Not really, I found it on the Internet.

How much does it cost to live in Rotterdam?

I didn't spend that much and it cost me around 450 euros a month.

What about the language? Did you go to any course at the university?

The language was fine, you just have to familiarise yourself with it - learning to read restaurant menus helps! I didn't take any courses because they were expensive and would have continued during my exam period.

What's the cheapest way of getting to Rotterdam from your home town?

By plane with Transavia.

Which nightlife spots would you recommend in Rotterdam?

Saint-Tropez.
