I chose Rotterdam because I've never been here before and I'd like to experience new culture and lifestyle.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

None, I supported my own studies. The term here is three months, I'll be heading to a new country for my second term. The living costs are high here, depending on your rent but your expenses would be around € 300-500.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rotterdam?

It's very convenient. The facilities are all here but the library is under renovation so, it might be a bit hard to get your hands on a book.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Rotterdam to other students?

Yes, I would.

I don't really enjoy Dutch food. But there's a variety to choose from and the snacks are pretty cool.

Yes, I used Nestpick but got a lovely place.

How much does it cost to live in Rotterdam?

I roughly use around €1, 000 including parties, food, public transport, and rent.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, for German natives or who has knowledge of German, it would be easy.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Rotterdam from your city?

By bike, but bikes get stolen all the time so your lock might be more expensive than your bike. Spoken from one who got her bike stolen.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Museums, I live at Blijdorp so a trip to the zoo was great!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Rotterdam in the future?

Yes, if you come here search for discount cards available. I found the Rotterdam Pas it gives amazing dicounts and benefits and with yoy student card you get it for a student price. Benefits include free movies, discount to the zoo museums etc.
