What is it like to live in Roterdão? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

A modern city with a lot of opportunities!

What is the student lifestyle like in Roterdão?

Most of them are settled in the neighbourhood Kralingen. You can find most of the beer pubs in this area. If you are looking for different types of pubs you have lots of choice in the center.

How much does it cost to live in Roterdão?

If you do not include your rental costs it is about the 400 euros p/m.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Roterdão? Is there any advice you can give?

For exchange students I only know the Student hotel, but this is quit expensive (500 p/m)

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Albert Heijn is a supermarket that literally sells all the products you want from all over the world. it is not the most cheapest one so if you look for some budget food you should try the Lidl or Aldi. My favorite dutch meal is 'Stampot'. you can vary in vegetables. Another nice dish is 'Pannekoeken'. This is like heaven on earth.

What places would you recommend visiting in Roterdão?

  • FoodFactory,
  • Biergarten,
  • Witte de Withstraat,
  • Oude noorden,
  • Kralingse plas.

Is it good to eat out in Roterdão? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

there are so many options, so in for some food you will find it on every corner of the street. Most options are in the center.

Is the nightlife good in Roterdão? Where is good to go?

Sometimes. For me, it depends on what kind of party they are throwing. All the places are cool, but not always nice because of the music. Lot's of hip hop and R&B and I don't really like that. But look for good events on Facebook and you will find your favorite party. The ESN parties are great for example.

What advice would you give future students heading to Roterdão?

Check in time the housing supply. It will cost you less if you settle your contract on time.

Try to find some other students on Facebook who are already studying here. They may want to help you and they know everything you want to know.
