What is it like to live in Rotterdam? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Rotterdam is lovely, international city with a lot of students as well as young people working there. The city itself is not too big but still has "New York" kind of feeling due to its high-rise buildings present in the city center. Especially architecture is very different from any other Dutch city - it was completely bombarded and then rebuilt.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rotterdam?

Students in Rotterdam will always find the things they like - there are places to party, places to barbecue, places to chill and just relax. There is a lot of events ongoing anytime - you can not get bored in this city.

How much does it cost to live in Rotterdam?

The living costs depends on the students expectations - it is possible to rent a room for 350E (really tiny and not so nice), but there is possibility to have bigger one n shared apartment for about 500E. Own studio is a bit expensive with its price higher than 650E per month. Food is relatively cheap and the transportation is easily solved by biking everywhere.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Rotterdam? Is there any advice you can give?

It is quite difficult, especially for internationals. The easist way is to use facebook groups - find a roomate in rotterdam, rent a room in rotterdam etc.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The traditional food is really nice - I enjoyed Stampot, oliebolie,..

What places would you recommend visiting in Rotterdam?

City center - De Martk, Witte de witt, Cube houses, Old harbor, Erasmus bridge, Centraal station,...

Is it good to eat out in Rotterdam? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

yes it is, depends on prices. Miomo or Easy were my favorites

Is the nightlife good in Rotterdam? Where is good to go?

there is the party street where everybody goes. From time to time there are also some roof parties with amazing view over the city.

What advice would you give future students heading to Rotterdam?

Buy a bike as soon as possible!
