Why did you choose to go to Rotterdam, Netherlands?

It is the first university in continental Europe for finance. Unfortunately, a lot of job opportunities are only for Dutch people.

What is the student lifestyle like in Rotterdam?

I personally study a lot during the week, because I am motivated to do the university well. Obviously, this does not apply to all students, even if the courses are very intense and tough.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Rotterdam to other students?

Yes, I would. The city is quiet, small and beautiful to live.

The university has a very good international reputation and this is surely a value-added.

What is the food like?

I come from Italy. From my point of view the food is just terrible. Only hamburgers are fine.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Rotterdam?

It took me 3 months (from beginning of June to the end of August). €470 per month, plus €500 to make it furnish. People has to look for it on time and have to spend many hours on every website.

How much does it cost to live in Rotterdam?

  • €490 for the house per month.
  • €70-90 to eat per week.
  • €500 to furnish the house.
  • Transportation costs. I live near the university, therefore I do not use public transportation or bike much.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I can speak English, German and Italian. The Dutch language is not easy at all.

I did not look for a Dutch course, consequently I do not know if there are available courses.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Rotterdam from your city?

By car to the airport. Airplane to Amsterdam. And finally train.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Rotterdam?

Witte de Withstraat.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Rotterdam?

The very Italian pizza near the central Markhal and the Japanese and Greek restaurant in the Markhal.

"Hamburg proper burger" in witte de withstraat.
