What is the student lifestyle like in Rio de Janeiro?

The infrastructure is poor, it's hard to find a good and furnished rooms for a fair price and understand the public transport system. But once you get over it is super charming and simple.

How much does it cost to live in Rio de Janeiro?

In comparison with Europe and USA/Canada it is super cheap.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Rio de Janeiro? Is there any advice you can give?

I have to say yes, but it is not so hard that you can not find, you just have to dedicate some extra time for it.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Brazilian food will give you some extra pounds, make no mistake, you'll love it.

What places would you recommend visiting in Rio de Janeiro?

Go to the favelas, if you can rent a room there, do it... you'll be in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the World with the most gentle and kind people. Go where the "cariocas" (natives from Rio) go, talk to them at the beach, the bars, etc. The best of Rio is its people.

totally. Try the Brazilian hot dog, go in everywhere with the name: "mocotó" and eat it. go to the places where the workers eat.

Is the nightlife good in Rio de Janeiro? Where is good to go?

Just have in mind you'll pay for a cab to come back home, public transport are neither safe or efficient by night there, besides that, enjoy the show!

What advice would you give future students heading to Rio de Janeiro?

Get off the bubble, don't allow your friends from the university monopolize your time. Rio is the best place in the World to make friends, if you go twice in a place, like a bar or a beach kiosk, they will call you for your name and know your favor beer by heart, cariocas love to talk and hear your stories, enjoy the people, they are amazing.
