Pizzeria EX

Pizzeria EX is one of the hidden gems of Rijeka's restaurants. Or better said, that's what it once was. Today, finding a free table there, even during the week days, is practically impossible, which is why people started to practice something that is quite unusual in Croatia: reserve tables by phone. What makes it all even stranger is the fact that it is not located in the city centre, but further west, in the suburbs of Srdoči (which is why it is also a great reason to open the map of Rijeka for all foreign visitors and guests and learn different areas and parts of the town).

In a time when eating out is a luxury, EX is the proof that there are still places where you can relax and enjoy, eat well and not be depressed when the bill comes to the table. It is unbelievably cheap. And much loved by the young customers, for that very reason. Its tradition as a popular eating place started with its hot sandwiches - it was definitely the way I heard about it for the first time. I've never tried these sandwiches, but I've seen them (they are big and rich) and seen people eating them (with a blessed expression on their faces :)). 

EX is formally a pizzeria, but it also offers meat dishes, pastas and desserts of different kinds. All portions are very rich and you get a full plate of food that you probably won't be able to eat completely. And the food is great! And the best things of all are the prices - two people can fill themselves up with food, drinks and cakes for a very low price (two people can eat for less then 100 kunas, that is, 15 euros - that's the price for both people!). That's why EX is the place where people bring their friends to celebrate birthdays, where boyfriends bring their girlfriends to mark anniversaries, where children bring their families to treat them with a dinner. All this makes this place one of great atmosphere: EX is always filled with normal, relaxed people just enjoying the good food and quality time.
